Campus Corps: Basic Needs and Civic Engagement Coordinator

In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Montana Technological University is a place of purpose, home to uncommon thinking, research, innovation, and ideas. Founded in 1900 as the Montana State School of Mines, Montana Tech is a public university in Butte, Montana, with a focus on engineering, applied science, and health science. It is the only school in the United States with an underground mine on campus. The university enrolls around 2,200 undergraduates, and maintains a 14 to 1 student to faculty ratio. The Basic Needs and Civic Engagement Coordinator is a full-time AmeriCorps position hosted at Montana Technological University in Butte, Montana, through the Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement. The goal of this project is to strengthen basic needs security, civic engagement, and community involvement among students and the broader campus community. The AmeriCorps member will expand the campus's capacity to address barriers to student success by coordinating programs such as the campus food pantry and consolidating the Casual Closet and Career Closet into a unified Campus Closet. The member will help ensure students have reliable access to food, clothing, and other essential resources, while also promoting volunteerism, civic partnerships, and community collaboration. Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) serves as the intermediary for this project. MCNCE is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across Montana. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to improve community life and educate students on civic and social responsibility, preparing them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders.
