Windham Primary School serves children in grades K-3 and their families in Windham, a vibrant suburb of Portland. Windham offers abundant recreational opportunities with lakes, mountains, and scenic coastline. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member at RSU-14 Windham Primary addresses the social determinants of health for students in grades K-3 by supporting education, mental health, and community resilience. The member develops and leads activities that promote physical and mental well-being, recruits at-risk families to gain skills for healthier lifestyles, and encourages school and after-school program attendance, a key factor in long-term health outcomes. The member assists in implementing the BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks) program, expands family engagement initiatives, builds strong relationships with students, staff, and community partners, plans events, connects families with local resources, and strengthens partnerships with community organizations. The member also supports public health by promoting behaviors that minimize drug and alcohol misuse.
