MCNCE VISTA Volunteer Engagement &Career Readiness Developer

The University of Montana Experiential Learning and Career Success (ELCS) Office supports UM students in connecting academic learning to real-world experience through internships, community service, and career development programming, including the Griz Career Closet and the Career Champions program. The goal of this VISTA project is to expand capacity for student volunteering, community engagement, and career readiness at the University of Montana. The VISTA member will build sustainable systems and infrastructure by developing a volunteer tracking and impact reporting system, creating a centralized volunteer opportunity hub, designing coordination frameworks for large-scale service initiatives, and expanding campus and community partnerships. The member will also conduct grant research, build Career Champions program infrastructure, and design a community-based service internship and work-study program model to improve equitable access to experiential learning. By expanding student pathways into service and career-connected learning, this project addresses poverty by strengthening workforce readiness and deepening community connection for underserved students. Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) serves as the intermediary for this project. MCNCE is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across Montana. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to improve community life and educate students on civic and social responsibility, preparing them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders.
