| Member Duties : Food distribution is the first step to food security, which is vital to alleviate poverty as people can’t improve their situation until their most basic needs are met. It also brings clients to the center, where they can then learn about Sunrise’s more long-term services, such as nutrition classes and medication management. Summer Associates will evaluate the flow of in-kind donations, such as food, from donors to clients for seasonal suitability and develop effective ways of communicating donation needs to donors. Food distribution occurs outside where temperatures can often be over 100 degrees, so Summer Associates will also implement measures under Sunrise’s C40 Cooling Pop Up Program that ensure clients can safely receive food and other services by mitigating the health risks of the summer sun.
