SerVermont - Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center VISTA

Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) is a full-service, critical access community hospital serving the central Vermont towns of Windsor and Woodstock, as well as surrounding communities in Vermont. Our mission is to improve the lives of those we serve. Home of the region's most advanced inpatient Rehabilitation Center, high-tech diagnostics, and state-of-the-art surgical care, we're focused on providing high-quality health, medical, and wellness services to the people we serve. Moreover, as members of the Dartmouth Health system, our patients have seamless access to world-class specialists whenever they need them. In collaboration with multiple organizations and agencies, MAHHC Community Health meets the definition of an Accountable Community for Health. This means that, as a health system, we not only take care of the sick, but we also work to ensure opportunities for residents in our region to be physically healthy, mentally healthy, socially connected and valued, financially secure, well-nourished, and well-housed. An example of this commitment in action is how MAHHC supports the community through staffing and program coordination at the Windsor Resource Center (WRC). The WRC is a welcoming place that serves as a hub where community members can get help with everyday needs, find support services, and connect with others—all in one location!

Member Duties : The VISTA Volunteer will support for our current and expanding Community Health Implementation Plan workgroups and networks. This extends to virtual meetings, digital content, and resource management. This VISTA project will also include skill-building in evaluating outreach materials and community-facing surveys, flyers, and other materials. Service will be grounded in the fundamentals of public health, the theory of collective impact, and the importance of community partnerships. The capacity-building activities the VISTA will engage in include website evaluation, strategic planning, and meeting/event development and implementation. The poverty alleviation element of the project is increased access for community members of all ages to health and wellness services, including food, medical care, transportation, housing, and more. The VISTA will work to create tangible deliverables that positively impact our program and the overall health of our community.
