Stewards VISTA: WV Brownfields Assistance Center Year 1

The Brownfields Assistance Center supports communities across West Virginia by building local capacity for brownfield redevelopment. Our mission is to advance environmental protection, public health, and economic development through the revitalization of underused or contaminated properties. Since our founding, we have grown from supporting limited redevelopment efforts to becoming a nationally recognized leader in rural brownfield revitalization and a regional technical assistance provider. Based in West Virginia, our work connects us with several communities across the state. The region offers a mix of small-town charm, strong community networks, and access to outdoor recreation, making it an appealing place to live and work. We are seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA member to help strengthen our internal systems for tracking projects and measuring long-term impact. The member will develop tools and processes to monitor project lifecycles, organize data, and improve how we document and communicate outcomes. This work will support more efficient operations and enhance our ability to serve communities. Ideal candidates are highly organized, detail-oriented, and interested in project management, data systems, and collaborative problem-solving. An interest in community development, environmental work, or nonprofit systems is a plus. Members will gain exposure to multiple fields, including economic development, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. Travel is minimal but may include occasional site visits or events. For more information, please contact our team directly to learn more about the role, timeline, and how to apply.
