NLADA Development & Donor Engagement VISTA (TX, MI, NY)

Neighborhood Defender Service (NDS) is a national nonprofit public defense organization that provides holistic, community-based legal representation to individuals and families impacted by the criminal legal system. Through integrated criminal, civil, family, and reentry advocacy, NDS works to ensure access to justice for individuals and families experiencing poverty and involvement with the legal system Public defense programs are chronically underfunded, and many critical services rely on philanthropic support to remain accessible and effective. Strengthening development infrastructure allows NDS to sustain holistic defense services while enabling attorneys and advocates to focus on client representation. The Development and Donor Engagement Vista will help strengthen the internal systems that support philanthropic fundraising across the organization. This includes building donor data infrastructure, developing stewardship and fundraising communication tools, and organizing processes for identifying and tracking prospective donors. By establishing organized data systems and sustainable workflows, the VISTA will help ensure that development efforts remain efficient, transparent, and sustainable beyond the VISTA service year. The VISTA member will serve at one of Neighborhood Defender Service’s offices in Harlem (NY), Detroit (MI), or Hays County (TX). Members must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned host site.
