The Unified Government of Wyandotte County AmeriCorps VISTA Program strengthens local capacity to improve public health services for low-income and underserved residents. This position supports the Public Health Department by developing sustainable systems to complete the 2027 Community Health Assessment (CHA). The VISTA member will identify, compile, and organize data from multiple sources into a centralized system to support analysis and decision-making. The member will develop standardized processes and tools for data management, ensuring that systems can be maintained and used for future assessments. They will also create data visualization tools, such as charts, maps, and dashboards, to communicate key findings. In addition, the VISTA will support development of CHA reporting materials, including templates, narrative summaries, and documentation to ensure consistent and accessible communication of results. The member will also research and align CHA processes with Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) requirements and develop tools to support ongoing compliance. By strengthening data systems, reporting processes, and community health assessment capacity, this project will improve the department’s ability to identify community needs and target resources effectively. These efforts will increase access to programs and services that support improved health and economic stability for residents experiencing poverty.
