The Communications & Outreach Associate will serve with Affordable Housing Centers of Pennsylvania (AHCOPA) in Philadelphia, PA from September 2026-2027. AHCOPA is part of the Housing Counseling Corps initiative of Housing Action Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. Learn more: housingactionil.org/americorps. As a HUD-Approved housing counseling agency, AHCOPA envisions a future where every household obtains the dream of homeownership.Through housing counseling, education, and advocacy, we increase and preserve housing stability and homeownership opportunities in Philadelphia. AHCOPA works primarily with low-to-moderate income, historically underserved households to support the creation of wealth through successful homeownership. The Communications & Outreach Associate will help design, pilot, and promote a new financial empowerment program to increase financial literacy amongst rent burdened households, with the goal of fostering future homeowners. The VISTA will also work on an informational video series and develop a donor management system. Our ideal candidate is someone with good writing skills, a knack for video editing, and most importantly, an ability to think about systems–including managing spreadsheets, designing tracking systems, and implementing new donor management systems

Member Duties : Due to an increased drive for homeownership, and ongoing challenges of accessing quality mortgage financing, there is a high demand for housing counseling services and supportive efforts to ensure successful homeownership in Philadelphia. By piloting a financial empowerment program to aid those who are not ready for a mortgage, but want to work towards that goal, the Communications & Outreach Associate will help stabilize communities and create generational wealth building opportunities. The VISTA will create materials, implement, and promote a new financial education program. They will collect data to assess the new program and solicit additional funding. The VISTA will launch an informational video series with AHCOPA staff and local/regional housing experts to share resources, increase our visibility, and connect with potential partners and funders. They will also assess donor tracking systems and pilot new ways of soliciting donations.
