26 AZ Serve VISTA - Literacy Connects Volunteer Specialist

Literacy Connects mission is to connect people of all ages to a world of opportunity through literacy and creative expression. One of our evidence-based programs, Reading Seed, has been proven to help children achieve reading proficiencies at a higher rate than peers without the program. Reading Seed’s model relies on volunteers to serve as reading coaches. With program demand outweighing capacity due to the number of volunteers, a VISTA member focused on volunteer recruitment and retention is critical for meeting our 12 year growth plan. The VISTA will expand the capacity of Literacy Connects to meet the needs of students experiencing poverty through partnerships with Title I schools.
