Summer Associate - MCNCE Arts Education Youth Leader

The ZACC is Missoula’s non-profit arts community center, a vibrant, multi-use facility providing opportunities for arts education, economic growth, and a safe, creative space for the entire community. Connecting community members through in-person art experiences, and supporting local artists, performers, and musicians is at the heart of what we do. The ZACC integrates artistic exploration with community building. We strive to be an open and safe creative space for all. Our success has come with the generous help of volunteers, community partners and dedicated staff members. This spirit of community, resourcefulness, and creativity drives the ZACC to meet Missoula’s needs through what we do best, ART. This project alleviates poverty by providing arts education and resources to youth experiencing economic or accessibility barriers. Most summer programming for youth is costly, making it difficult for youth from low-income families and backgrounds to access enriching activities and social settings in the months outside of school. Additionally, this project is attempting to cultivate young artists in sustained art practice, such as music or painting, for use outside of the ZACC. Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) serves as the intermediary for this project. MCNCE is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across Montana. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to improve community life and educate students on civic and social responsibility, preparing them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders.
