M:STL- Summer Associate Delmar Main Street

Delmar Main Street is a place-based economic development initiative serving eight neighborhoods and more than 36,000 residents along a 3.3-mile commercial corridor in St. Louis. Following the May 16, 2025 tornado, which caused an estimated $1.6 billion in damages and impacted more than 10,000 structures, the corridor is mobilizing a recovery strategy that combines disaster response with long-term economic mobility and long term comeUNITY resilience. Through outreach, engagement, and navigation support, the project will serve hundreds of residents and business owners impacted by the tornado, strengthening access to economic opportunity, stabilizing small businesses, beautifying/activating public spaces and restoring neighborhood access to essential goods and services. By integrating disaster response with economic mobility capacity-building, AmeriCorps Summer Associates will help Delmar Main Street rebuild, relaunch, and recover the corridor while establishing sustainable systems that support long-term community resilience and improved public health outcomes.

Member Duties : Through the D-Train Small Business Navigation Model, AmeriCorps Summer Associates will support community-led recovery by conducting outreach, gathering data, building partnerships, promoting opportunities, and strengthening systems that help residents and small businesses move from survival to sustainability. By improving access to financial education, capital pathways, restored public spaces, and economic opportunity, the project addresses key social determinants of health tied to poverty reduction and community wellbeing.
