Summer Associate - MCNCE Youth STEM Leader and Advocate

ExplorationWorks has been a volunteer-driven, collaborative and grassroots effort in Helena, MT since its inception in 2000. ExplorationWorks offers interactive STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) exhibits, programs, workshops, classes, and camps for kids and families, as well as school and community groups. In 2019, we welcomed over 42,000 guests of all ages. More than 800 youth participate in our summer camps and after school classes each year. ExplorationWorks addresses community needs by helping kids, families, and adults transform book-based STEM knowledge into hands-on real life experiences. The goal of this project is to alleviate poverty by inspiring young people about STEM careers and give them the tools to excel in the STEM field by providing both knowledge and hands-on real life experiences. Inspiring youth to pursue STEM careers and the tools to pursue higher education has the potential to break the cycle of poverty and give youth an exciting, growing and lucrative future career. Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) serves as the intermediary for this project. MCNCE is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across Montana. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to improve community life and educate students on civic and social responsibility, preparing them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders.
