| Member Duties : This AmeriCorps position promotes youth nutrition, garden education, and community engagement. The member administers weekly healthy snack demonstrations using seasonal produce, highlighting nutritional benefits and sharing creative ways for youth to try fruits and vegetables. Produce grown in the community garden is delivered to the Summer Food Program site in Elyria to support daily meal preparation for participants. The member maintains the Oberlin community garden by planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting crops while leading garden tours for youth and community members. These tours provide hands-on education about growing food, local food systems, and the importance of healthy, sustainable eating. Secondary activities support broader program initiatives and community outreach to enhance youth access to fresh, nutritious foods.
