2026 LASOS Youth Program VISTA
 
 
 
The Foundations Program is designed for youth ages 4-21 who need additional support academically and socially due to socioeconomic factors, transitional living, homelessness, and cultural incompetency. The program is designed to enhance language acquisition skills, academic assistance and pro-social connections to positive adult and peer relationships. By goal setting and exposure to opportunities the youth are introduced and supported throughout the educational process from elementary to college/ trade school.VISTA member will build the capacity of LASOS by coordinating with the Harford County. Public Schools system, and other organizations to create long-lasting partnerships and programs aimed at aiding targeted youth to succeed.

Member Duties : Help convene volunteers for after-school programming, mentorship and academic tutoring to students in a supportive and engaging environment during the school year. ¿ Communicate with the schools the students attend to gather external information about their attendance, grades, and any other pertinent data. ¿ Participate in the LASOS summer camp by coordinating volunteers, classrooms, and field trips as needed, and helping coordinate the schedule of guest speakers and events. ¿ Collect, analyze and share data related to student achievements, and casework of the students Identify, develop, and revise academic strategies that support curriculum implementation in addition to individual scholar support. ' ¿ Evaluate implementation of evidence-based practices for youth mentoring and student engagement to develop a toolkit for current and future usage in the program. Resource development and fundraising.
