Haven Services Grant Writing & Development VISTA
 
 
 
Haven Services is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to financially empowering vulnerable individuals and families across Southern California through free financial education, housing counseling, and tax assistance services. Founded in response to the 2008 Economic Recession, Haven Services addresses systemic financial and housing instability affecting low-income communities. Through the L.A. Works AmeriCorps VISTA Program, the Grant Writing & Development VISTA will strengthen Haven Services’ long-term sustainability by developing grant and development systems that support institutional funding and donor engagement. The VISTA member will focus exclusively on capacity-building activities, including research, system development, documentation, evaluation, and staff training. By increasing Haven Services’ ability to secure and steward diversified funding, this role supports the expansion of no-cost services that help individuals achieve financial stability, housing security, and economic mobility—breaking the cycle of poverty in the communities served.

Member Duties : The Grant Writing & Development VISTA will build Haven Services’ organizational capacity by developing grant and donor systems that support long-term funding sustainability. Activities include researching funding opportunities, developing grant calendars and proposal tools, creating donor-facing materials, implementing tracking systems, evaluating system effectiveness, documenting processes, and training staff. All activities focus on capacity building to ensure Haven Services can independently secure resources that support poverty-alleviation services beyond the VISTA service term.
