Stewards VISTA: Community Dev. Coordinator - WY. County EDA

The Wyoming County Economic Development Authority works to expand economic opportunity in a rural Appalachian community experiencing workforce disruption and job loss. The organization focuses on workforce readiness, environmental stewardship, and sustainable economic development strategies that address persistent poverty and support long-term community resilience. This VISTA project supports the organization’s capacity to guide economic transition efforts by refining and institutionalizing internal systems developed during the prior service year. The Year 2 assignment focuses on strengthening community assessment tools, asset mapping systems, workforce planning frameworks, and strategic implementation resources to ensure they are repeatable, consistent, and usable beyond the VISTA term. The VISTA will contribute to the development of standardized assessment instruments, internal resource databases, workforce planning tools, and a multi-year strategic implementation guide. These products will be used by staff to guide external engagement, implement workforce readiness strategies, coordinate partners, and pursue programmatic funding after the VISTA term. By strengthening internal systems that support workforce readiness and economic transition planning, this project addresses root causes of poverty for individuals experiencing employment disruption. The service opportunity offers experience in economic development systems, workforce planning, data-informed decision-making, and organizational sustainability within a rural public-sector context.
