Generation SERVE_Project Coordinator VISTA_Teleservice

Generation SERVE’s mission is to spark a love for volunteering that inspires youth to grow into community-minded leaders. Generation SERVE designs programs to ensure that youth and families from a full range of socioeconomic backgrounds, including those in low-income communities, can participate in meaningful and impactful volunteer experiences. To make this possible, Generation SERVE partners with schools in Title I districts, affordable housing communities, and more than 100 local nonprofit organizations. These partnerships help remove barriers such as cost, transportation, and lack of awareness, which often prevent families from accessing leadership development, enrichment, and civic engagement opportunities. Service projects in the basic needs and health service areas address urgent community challenges across Central Texas for individuals and families experiencing poverty, homelessness, and food insecurity. According to the Central Texas Food Bank, 1 in 7 Central Texans, including 1 in 5 children, struggles with hunger (Central Texas Food Bank, 2024 Hunger Report). Generation SERVE’s Basic Needs service area responds directly to these challenges by coordinating hands-on, family-centered volunteer projects that provide meals, distribute fresh produce, and support local shelters and food pantries. The Generation SERVE Project Coordinator VISTA will build long-term sustainability at Generation SERVE by developing systems, resources, and capacity that strengthen our Basic Needs service area well beyond their term of service.
