Eco3.25 Community Action Duluth Food Access VISTA
 
 
 
The Eco3 VISTA Corps focuses on addressing poverty by addressing food access and systems, community development, education, health and wellness, creative placemaking, energy security, and more. Eco3 VISTA members work with organizations that are deeply embedded in the community to help develop solutions to community challenges through leveraging resources, building partnerships, expanding reach, and improving organizational efficiency. The member will be placed at Community Action Duluth (CAD). CAD’s mission is to empower and engage our community to eliminate poverty. The VISTA member will build the capacity of CAD’s Seeds of Success program, focusing on increasing access to fresh and healthy food in the Duluth community. The member will assist in the expansion and efficiency of all Seeds of Success programming, including two food-access focused Farmers Markets, the winter greenhouse and urban farm, and the low-cost mobile grocery program. Although each member is serving in a unique position, all cohort members will participate in the Eco3 VISTA cohort, including VISTA-specific activities such as regular cohort meetings, collaborative projects, professional development opportunities, and trainings.

Member Duties : The member will build the capacity of Community Action Duluth and its Seeds of Success Program. The Seeds of Success program aims to provide fresh, healthy foods for community members, specifically those experiencing poverty. The VISTA member will 1) Develop greater economic security for the Seeds of Success program through fundraising and grant writing; 2) Increase program visibility through storytelling; 3) Help design and lead an advisory committee to support program improvement and capacity building, and deepen relationships with partner organizations.
