Hospice Patient Caretaker
 
 
 
Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health agencies. Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and safeTALK. Members will coordinate ASIST, SOS and safeTALK trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho. The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health.

Member Duties : Increasing, enhancing, and expanding public health programs and existing services by making a difference in the lives of patients facing a life-limiting illness, promoting mental health skills as needed. Helping ensure the patient and family’s needs are met through companionship, assisting with everyday tasks, providing respite time to a patient’s caregivers, documenting the extent of their visit and if there are noticeable changes. Helping enhance organizational capacity through helping patient’s experience and clients served. Minimum Qualifications: Must have a valid driver's license, auto insurance, good verbal and written skills, pass a drug, background and TB test, and the capacity to complete and pass the volunteer training.
