Behavioral Health Specialist
 
 
 
Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health agencies. Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and safeTALK. Members will coordinate ASIST, SOS and safeTALK trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho. The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health.

Member Duties : Increase, expand and enhance the capacity of existing public health programs and services offered by supporting conducting assessments, developing and reviewing individual service plans. Guiding treatment process with staff for youth and family. Assisting staff in providing outpatient individual, family, and group psychotherapy to adjudicated youth. Help administer lethality assessments; crisis intervention plans utilizing ASIST and SAFE Talk skills if needed, and provide mental wellness behavior plans as needed. Joining staff in collaborating with outside agencies and families to provide continuity of care and linkage of additional mental health services for youth, such as Sources of Strength. Attending internal collaborative team meetings with staff for clients and their families, staff, and outside agencies. Does not duplicate, supplement, or displace staff.
