United For Childcare

United Way of Southeast Missouri is launching a new AmeriCorps program, United for Childcare, to increase access to affordable, quality childcare in Southeast Missouri. Childcare is a critical need in our region, with many families unable to work due to a lack of providers. This program places AmeriCorps members in roles that expand provider capacity and support the childcare workforce. AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides members with a living allowance paid on the 1st and 15th of each month, plus an education award upon successful completion of service that can be applied toward tuition or student loans. Members may work another job or attend school during off hours. 3/4 Time (1,200 hours): $600 living allowance per pay period | $5,176.50 education award Half Time (900 hours): $400 living allowance per pay period | $3,697.50 education award We are seeking people of all abilities. No prior experience in childcare licensing is required.

Member Duties : As a Childcare Development Specialist, you will work directly with individuals who want to become licensed in-home childcare providers. You'll guide them through the licensing process, help with business planning and training, and connect them to resources. Your service will directly help increase the number of childcare options for working families. 1) Meet with potential in-home providers to explain the licensing process and walk them through each step. 2) Assist providers with application paperwork and inspection readiness. 3) Help schedule and promote CPR/First Aid, CDA, and other required trainings. 4) Support providers with business planning and access to resources. 5) Manage tools like the Provider Toolkit and update shared materials. 6) Track provider milestones and celebrate progress. 7) Promote licensing support through outreach events and community information sessions.
