Sunrise Elementary 2025-2026
 
 
 
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership, and is based at Sunrise Elementary in Smithfield, Utah. AmeriCorps VISTA is a National Service Program. All AmeriCorps positions are full-time hours for one calendar year as mandated by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Successful completion of a one-year service term qualifies all VISTA members for either an education award of $7,395 or a cash stipend of $1,800 (direct deposit). AmeriCorps pay a living allowance of $1,914 per month.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will help this population break the cycle of poverty associated with societal barriers and lack of access to needed resources and support. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 1. Collaborate with school counselor, admin staff and teachers to track low attendance. 2. Developing a needs assessment survey to engage parents of at-risk students. 3. Develop a system that incentivizes and reward school attendance. 4. Develop a database on students who are being supported by attendance efforts. 5. Keep track of students with behavioral health issues and ensure they are offered support with a variety curriculum. 6. Develop a tool or system that ensures recess is organized and supervised. 7. Coordinate and organize families access to the food assistance program. 9. Improve school-wide behavior system to improve recognition of students. 10. Build sustainability and consistency for future years of the PBIS process.
