NYC Civic Corps

NYC Civic Corps, an AmeriCorps program administered by NYC Service through the Mayor’s Office of New York, unites dedicated New Yorkers around a shared purpose: serving their city. Members serve full-time (35 hours per week) at select nonprofit organizations and City government agencies, where they expand capacity, address critical community needs, and connect NYC residents to important resources. By harnessing the talent and energy of civic-minded individuals, NYC Civic Corps strengthens communities across the five boroughs and helps develop the next generation of public service leaders. Over the course of the program year (October to July) NYC Civic Corps’s 150 members serve on the frontlines of community engagement, focusing on impact areas that reflect New York City’s most urgent priorities—including food access and security, education, improving public spaces, and emergency preparedness. Members participate in a variety of capacity building activities at their host sites—building and expanding community volunteer programs, conducting community outreach, and developing and evaluating new programs. NYC Civic Corps is also a platform for leadership and professional growth. While serving members participate in over 150 hours or professional development and training; through this, members gain valuable workforce skills, practical experience, and career pathways in public and nonprofit service.
