AmeriCorps Site Lead

After-School All-Stars (ASAS) offers free programming to approximately 500 students in DC, mostly middle schoolers. Every day school is in session, from 3:15 to 6:00, ASAS provides academic support and a variety of enrichment opportunities to young people who otherwise have no access to extended learning activities. In addition to academic support, our program includes four enrichment components: Visual and Performing Arts, Health and Fitness, Career Exploration Opportunities, and Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) activities. Socio-Emotional Learning and mentoring infuse every aspect of the program. We create a safe space for students to share and process their lived experiences, to explore their interests and find their passion. We help them create a positive self-image and develop positive life-long habits and goals for a successful life and career. Service learning support civic engagement and community building for our young students.
