VISTA member will help to break the cycle of poverty by developing and building sustainable programs such as promoting the creation of a soft skills training system for low income high school students to enhance their employability skills utilizing community volunteers. VISTA service goal is to create, plan and develop a soft skills training manual on leadership and teamwork skills, communication and listening skills, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills, time management and project management skills, all of which will be completed using recruited community volunteers and other community resources. These low income high school students will also be given the opportunity to research and identify career choice information and business ownership information based on individual desires. These activities and resources will benefit youth and their families to be successful, alleviate poverty and help sustain our organization for providing services for more families in the future.

Member Duties : Oseola McCarty Youth Development Center VISTAs service duties align with the CNCS priority area of Economic Development. This VISTA Project seeks a VISTA volunteer help to break the cycle of poverty by developing and building sustainable programs that contribute to our goals and mission of empowering youth to win in every area of their lives. Goal is to promote economic opportunities by developing training materials and training manuals on soft skills education that provides employability skills for low income high school students. By creating all these systems for low income and impoverished youth and their families; VISTAs will help alleviate poverty and help sustain future resources at the youth center.
