Cultural Diversity Resources (CDR) is a nonprofit, established in 1994, to serve low-income population in Fargo, Cass County, ND and Moorhead, Clay County, MN. Its mission is to 'serve as an intercultural bridge that strengthens bonds, educates and empowers low-income families. CDR serves as an AmeriCorps VISTA sponsor and host site, currently with six (6) VISTA members (Communications Manager, Programs Coordinator, Community Resources Manager, Fund Development Coordinator, Community Organizer and Community Health Connector). This anti-poverty project focuses on organizational capacity-building activities to leverage resources resulting in increased funding, volunteers, sponsors and partners with long-term sustainability to empower low-income families to reduce poverty. CDR’s community partners include New Roots Midwest, Ps & Qs Etiquette, Indigenous Legacy with Women Initiative Network serving as a sub host site. VISTA member will conduct research and community assets-mapping to learn more about current resources and programs to support low-income elderly population. Partner with local community agencies and healthcare systems to ensure low-income elderly clients can access information, training and services. Plan and develop a Caregiver Support Group’ as a network where caregivers can learn, share and support one another and develop a ‘Companion Service’ with trained volunteers to support the older adults living at home in the Fargo-Moorhead metro area

Member Duties : AmeriCorps members will conduct community outreach and research to identify current programming and resources for low-income elderly population. Develop partnerships with local agencies and healthcare system to ensure low-income elderly clients can access information, training and services. Plan and develop a caregiver support group and companion service with volunteers to support older adults living at home in Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN.
