TMA Morgan State University Agrihood Baltimore Urban Farmers
 
 
 
The VISTA project is located at Morgan State University and Plantation Park Heights Urban Farms to develop Farming to Workforce Pathways that creates Healthy Futures for Urban Communities. The TMA AmeriCorps VISTA member will receive trainings and help with recruiting volunteer urban farmers from the community and instill in Morgan students’ the value of volunteerism beyond the course requirements at the urban farm. They will also support the advisory council that engages community members while strengthening relationships and assist Morgan faculty in co-developing with Community Partner course assignments for students’ to organize spaces for production, preparation and preservation of food facilities at the Plantation Park Heights Urban Farm. The project will produce a Farming to Workforce Pathways protocol to facilitate long-term sustainability of the program.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will help recruit architecture students for participation in the coursework and volunteer opportunities that form the basis of Morgan's collaboration with the Plantation Park Heights Urban Farm. Time will be spent both on campus and at the PPHUF. The VISTA will organize events and create systems for organizing events, student volunteer engagement hours, urban farmer-student collaborations, and program progress.
