The Virginia Capacity Building Project supports Serve Virginia and their partners in alleviating the effects of poverty through organizational capacity building. While our project covers a wide range of issue areas, from substance use disorder to educational opportunities, all of our members are dedicated to increasing the impact and reach of volunteerism and to pursuing healthy futures for all Virginians. The efforts of our AmeriCorps members will help us build towards a healthier, happier, and stronger Commonwealth.

Member Duties : Serve your community and develop your professional skills through a year of service with AmeriCorps VISTA! In this in-person position, the Greater Richmond Fit4Kids Volunteer Engagement & Development VISTA will build capacity by building a sustainable volunteer network. The Member will do so by optimizing existing volunteer programs, assessing opportunities and obstacles in the Young Professionals Board, and developing a comprehensive community engagement plan. The right fit for this position will possess strong time management, communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, along with the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment. Candidates must be technologically proficient, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and Google Suite. Experience in volunteer coordination is a plus. A passion for volunteerism and community service, along with a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation and being able to pass a background check, are required.
