Our City Forest AmeriCorps

Our City Forest’s mission is to keep Silicon Valley green and healthy by engaging people in the care of our urban forest. Since 1994, we’ve partnered with schools, neighborhood groups, and local organizations to plant and care for thousands of trees, improve parks, and encourage residents to steward trees in their neighborhoods. AmeriCorps members serve full-time for 11 months on one of three teams—Planting, Tree Care, or Community Nursery—while also contributing to special projects such as neighborhood tree inventories, outreach events, school programs, volunteer training, and environmental education. Depending on your role, you might plant street trees, nurture young saplings, steward neighborhood trees through pruning and maintenance, cultivate plants at the nursery, or lead volunteer workdays. Members work closely with residents to expand tree canopy, improve public spaces, and encourage stewardship of sustainable landscapes through outreach and education. We have up to 20 positions available this year and are looking for motivated individuals who are passionate about the environment and making a difference. By the end of your service, you’ll have hands-on skills in urban forestry, environmental education, and community engagement—while making a lasting impact on Silicon Valley’s environment and communities.
