Vista College Prep 25-26

Vista College Prep AmeriCorps Members will occupy key roles in achieving three key goals: Goal 1) ACMs will work to provide one on one or small group tutoring. ACMs will be trained on use of internally developed data tools that allow users to analyze student academic performance by domain and standard across NWEA MAP, Interim Assessments, and Exit Tickets. Using this data, in collaboration with teachers, ACMs will provide differentiated, scaffolded instruction to students to increase proficiency in reading, math, and English Language development. Goal 2) ACMs will work to provide interventions that improve school experience for students and reduce behavioral incidents inside school and on the bus. Vista provides transportation to and from school for students, and data shows that behavior incidents that occur on the bus negatively impact schooling experience and in severe cases, result in missed time in school. ACMs will provide supervision on bus routes, lowering these types of incidents. Additionally, ACMs will be trained on classroom and behavior management, and in collaboration with Assistant Principal and Network staff, assist in delivering proactive interventions to students (in the classroom, during breakfast and lunch, and at recess) designed to preempt behavioral incidents and maximize time in class receiving instruction. Goal 3) ACMs will work to provide interventions that increase attendance. To do so, ACMs will educate students and parents/guardians on the importance of attendance, and individual students' attendance relative to goals. In collaboration with Assistant Principal and teachers, ACMs will regularly communicate with both students and families.
