SCC – Forestry Individual Placement

The Southwest Conservation Corps (SCC) Individual Placement (IP) Program connects young adults with hands-on opportunities to support public lands and community needs through AmeriCorps service. Forestry IPs serve alongside land management agencies and nonprofit partners across the Southwest, gaining valuable experience in the field of natural resource management. Forestry Individual Placements may assist with a range of projects related to forest and wildlife management. Duties can include collecting field data, monitoring forest health, conducting wildlife or vegetation surveys, supporting native seed collection, managing invasive plant species, and assisting with tree planting or fuels reduction work. Members may also contribute to mapping, reporting, and preparing summaries of field findings. These roles provide young adults with practical skills and exposure to land management practices that support healthy forests and habitats. IPs often collaborate closely with agency staff, gaining insight into career paths in conservation and public land stewardship.
