SCC Trails & Recreation Individual Placement
 
 
 
The Southwest Conservation Corps (SCC) Individual Placement (IP) Program connects young adults with hands-on opportunities to support public lands and community needs through AmeriCorps service. Trails and Recreation IPs serve alongside land management agencies and nonprofit partners across Southwest Colorado, gaining meaningful field experience while contributing to our public lands. Trails and Recreation IPs improve public access and support outdoor engagement by assisting with trail maintenance and construction, GPS mapping, visitor outreach, and recreational infrastructure projects. Members may help build or reroute trails, restore eroded sections, install signage, and support recreation initiatives and information. Member Duties : Member duties may include trail construction, maintenance, and restoration; improving recreational infrastructure like signage, campsites, and visitor-use areas; monitoring and assessing sites by collecting field data and reporting maintenance needs; mapping trails or resources with GPS/GIS; engaging visitors with orientation, safety guidance, and educational info; collecting and managing data on natural resources, water quality, or recreational use; assisting with project planning and site surveys; maintaining records of project work and field observations; and supporting outreach or volunteer events that encourage stewardship and responsible recreation.
