Member Duties : During the school day, Members provide academic intervention and support services to students in 1st-8th grade who are in Tier II, engage with families, and work with school attendance teams to identify resources that can be provided to families. Each Member is assigned 10-15 youth who they will check-in with during arrival and dismissal, look at attendance patterns, and document interactions and conversations they have with each youth and their parent/caregiver during the week.
Members are required to participate in pre-service orientation and on-going training sessions throughout their year of service (i.e., two-week pre-service training and other youth development, mentoring, or AmeriCorps training). Members are also required to attend national service events and projects, including MLK Day, RMSS, and other service projects.
