25-26-Will County Habitat -Housing Action Corps- Marketing
 
 
 
The Marketing and Communication Specialist will serve with Will County Habitat for Humanity in Joliet, IL from August 2025-2026. Will County Habitat for Humanity (WCHFH) is part of Housing Action Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. Housing Action Corps members receive custom training, support, and networking opportunities in housing and community development, in addition to the traditional benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA. Since 1988, WCHFH addresses the lack of decent affordable housing in Will County by helping low-income families purchase affordable homes and make necessary repairs. Habitat homeowners build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage, which helps families improve their living conditions and gain financial stability. The Marketing and Communication Specialist will create and implement a multi-channel marketing and outreach plan to raise awareness of WCHFH services and engage with our clients, volunteers, donors, staff, and community members. Our ideal candidate is passionate about housing, motivated to learn and grow through the VISTA program, and comfortable tackling projects independently and with a team. They should demonstrate strong writing and editing skills, as well as an understanding of storytelling and connecting with multiple audiences. Candidates should have some experience in graphic design, social media management, and content creation. This position offers shared housing and utilities as a supplemental benefit.

Member Duties : A stable and secure place to live leads to improved health outcomes, educational opportunities, and economic stability. Our programs help create pathways to economic mobility through homeownership, but we need a dedicated VISTA to raise awareness and grow our resources to serve more people in Will County. The Marketing and Communication Specialist will research new strategies and develop an annual marketing plan and calendar. They will create content templates, conduct interviews with stakeholders, and gather pictures and local data for content. To ensure the marketing program is sustainable, they will train volunteers and staff, as well as develop a manual so WCHFH can continue to implement the new communication and outreach strategies after service.
