Stewards VISTA: Program Coordinator FoKAG

Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens (FoKAG) is a nonprofit committed to protecting and promoting one of the nation’s most unique public spaces—the only national park dedicated to aquatic plant life. Through a combination of conservation, education, and community engagement, FoKAG works to create safe, welcoming, and enriching park experiences for all. This AmeriCorps VISTA position will support the organization’s mission by advancing the Come Alive After 5 initiative, which extends park access during peak evening hours to underserved local communities. These programs encourage family bonding, outdoor activity, and educational exploration—particularly in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)—equipping participants with new skills and opportunities that can support long-term success. The selected VISTA member will play a vital role in strengthening community ties, encouraging responsible use of public lands, and ensuring that all residents—regardless of income or background—can enjoy and benefit from the natural resources right in their backyard. This position is ideal for someone who values hard work, creative problem-solving, and the belief that strong communities begin with engaged citizens and access to shared spaces.
