Cultivating Connections Montana

Cultivating Connections Montana’s mission is all about building community through food. Through our programming, we strive to empower youth, grow food, share knowledge, foster well-being, provide mentorship, and bring people together through education, participation, and celebration. In a world where there is so much to disagree about, food is something we can all agree on, and it’s a place to start a new conversation. The goal of this project is to mentor high school interns, engage with students in market prep & sales, coordinate events, and create community connections. Project will include the managing of the on-site ‘Civic Scientist’ test plots and learning garden by further developing the farm ‘trail, and by leading volunteers on the farm and in the garden. Lastly, members will raise awareness of Cultivating Connections Montana and develop teaching videos and outreach materials to connect with low income children, families, and seniors; thereby increasing knowledge and access to healthy Montana-grown foods. Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) serves as the intermediary for this project. MCNCE is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across Montana. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to improve community life and educate students on civic and social responsibility, preparing them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders.
