The Missoula Art Museum (MAM) is committed to educating the community through contemporary art and to developing and conserving the Art Museum Collection in order to preserve and make accessible our cultural heritage. With the ongoing dedication of artists, educators, community members and volunteers, MAM has grown from a summer arts festival to a thriving institution serving the Northwest. Accredited by the American Association of Museums since 1987, MAM develops and hosts approximately 25 exhibitions annually in six galleries located in the Carnegie building This 2025 Summer AmeriCorps position is for students who want to gain experience in museum education at a contemporary art museum in Missoula, Montana. This person will work closely with MAM’s Education Team to support and help coordinate, implement, and assist with three signature summer education programs at MAM—ARTreach, Summer Art Camps, Trio: Upward Bound, Teen Art Project (TAP). Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) serves as the intermediary for this project. MCNCE is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across Montana. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to improve community life and educate students on civic and social responsibility, preparing them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders.

Member Duties : Summer Service Member with MAM will familiarize themselves with contemporary art exhibition on summer display and lead exhibition tours of art exhibitions and assist teaching artists in the classroom for ARTreach participants, ages 6-12. Member will provide leadership and assistance to Teen Art Project (TAP) and Trio Upward Bound HS students in an effort to help build positive life-skills and knowledge surrounding post-secondary education. Member will provide leadership with the weekly MAM camps and campers, which includes engaging campers while making art and assisting art teachers. Member will help maintain a positive and organized educational classroom space for all programs.
