University of Montana TRIO Upward Bound

TRIO Upward Bound was established to provide the requisite academic skills and motivation that qualifying students will need for success in postsecondary education. Upward Bound offers after-school tutoring in each of our target high schools, volunteer opportunities, monthly workshops on topics related to high school success and postsecondary enrollment, and tours of area colleges during fall or spring breaks. During our six-week Summer Academy, students live on campus, take courses to prepare for the upcoming school year, and participate in an engaging variety of experiential learning activities. All Upward Bound programming is completely free for all participating students. The goal of the project is to provide increased academic success, aid in college attainment and preparation for participating students. This academic support will help build the foundational building blocks for later successes both academically and professionally. Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) serves as the intermediary for this project. MCNCE is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across Montana. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to improve community life and educate students on civic and social responsibility, preparing them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders. Actively engage in program workshops, field trips, and events to enhance students’ learning and engagement.
