Central Lakes College, Seed Co

Central Lakes College – Brainerd and Staples is part of Minnesota State, which is the third largest system of state colleges and universities in the United States and the largest in the state with 26 colleges, 7 universities, and 54 campuses. www.minnstate.edu We are a comprehensive community and technical college serving about 5,500 students per year. With a knowledgeable, caring faculty and modern, results-oriented programs in comfortable facilities, CLC is the college of choice for seekers of success. Our roots are deep in a tradition dating to 1938 in Brainerd and 1950 in Staples. Communities across central Minnesota are filled with our graduates. Program Description: Driven by a commitment to civic engagement, our program seeks to establish a comprehensive reporting process to track and boost civic and community engagement at the college. We plan to develop and facilitate innovative training sessions that connect students and groups with anti-poverty initiatives, equipping them with practical skills and opportunities for impactful involvement. In alignment with MinnState's goals, this initiative enhances our college's capacity to make poverty-informed decisions and build stronger, more resilient communities.

Member Duties : As an AmeriCorps VISTA at CLC, you'll spark transformational change by revamping our college’s civic reporting process! You’ll dive into past practices, interview key stakeholders, research best practices, and design, pilot, launch, and present a dynamic reporting system to college leadership—all while actively serving on the Community/Civic Engagement Committee. You’ll also identify local nonprofits engaged in anti-poverty work, create comprehensive volunteer rosters, and coordinate service-learning programs with faculty, staff, and media partners. Plus, by reviewing student success data and collaborating with deans, you’ll develop feedback tools and link community members with impactful service projects to bridge achievement gaps and fuel our anti-poverty mission.
