CASC-VISTA Healthy Futures Associate-Sequoyah County

The Early College & Career Connections (EC3) VISTA project aligns with Carl Albert State College’s (CASC) mission of “Providing affordable, accessible, and exceptional education that fosters student success”. CASC also has a long history of partnering with schools and communities in Sequoyah and LeFlore Counties. The VISTA EC3 project will provide career and college resources for students, parents and school personnel in LeFlore and Sequoyah counties. This 3-year initiative increases capacity by aligning with VISTA goals for Healthy Futures and Education. A Healthy Futures VISTA member will be added for Sequoyah County, spring 2025. Anticipated annual impact will be more than 1,000 student-family combinations. VISTA EC3 Associates will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as coordinating volunteer support for health fairs, career fairs, and supporting school nurse, counselors and administrators with health-related resources, connecting school personnel and students with appropriate Career Tech Centers, college admissions staff, or military recruiters. EC3 Associates will match health resources with procedures, policy and language used by these partners. This will help school personnel, students and families better understand health options, health careers and college degrees for health professionals. Experienced health professionals/ educators that understand Career Tech and K-20 models are ideal candidates for EC3 Healthy Futures Associate position. In addition to improving community health, this VISTA project will encourage students to get a head-start on health career and college goals; attending Career Tech Centers or through college credit courses while in high school. EC3 will aid families by providing support mechanisms for concurrent enrollment, financial aid, scholarship applications, internship opportunities, workforce placement, military recruiting, and pathways to college degrees.
