About the Summer Teaching Fellowship Your Impact As a Teaching Fellow, you’re more than a teacher—you’re a mentor and role model. Your leadership will help students grow personally and academically in just a few weeks. What Does a Typical Summer Look Like? Your summer begins with orientation, where you’ll meet fellow Teaching Fellows, train in classroom management, and explore key education issues. You’ll then lead a classroom of 8-12 students, teaching up to three classes per day (1-2 core classes and an elective). Throughout the summer, you’ll: Serve as a crew leader and plan extracurricular activities Attend coaching and staff meetings Participate in weekly professional development sessions Help build a positive, welcoming community You’ll be guided by an Instructional Coach—an experienced educator—who will review your lesson plans, provide feedback, and support your growth in teaching, classroom management, and student assessment. You can commit to 300+ hours of service from June 16 – August 8, 2025 (full-time) Training & Professional Development BTSV invests in your growth. You’ll start with an in-depth orientation and receive ongoing coaching and feedback from your Instructional Coach. Training hours will not exceed 20% of total service hours.
