Kansas City VISTA Food System Planning and Stakeholder Engag

The City of Kansas City’s Office of Environmental Quality is working to ensure the health of natural spaces and open spaces and people living within the city. We are housed in City Hall and serve all of Kansas City, MO. Our VISTA of Food System Planning and Stakeholder Engagement will work diligently to study and implement new community garden locations, gather information for our university partners, and become an advocate for circular economic principles within the city. Our VISTA volunteers will be able to actively apply their research in the community and collaborate with neighborhoods, non-profits, and municipal groups to complete their work. We are looking for individuals passionate about improving community well-being and increasing food access and production. The ideal candidate would be able to hold community and stakeholder meetings, implement plans based on research, and communicate professionally and empathetically in the context of their work. We welcome those who want to build their skills in the field of municipal service or food system work. Demonstrated interest or existing skills in either municipal service or food system work preferred. This is an exciting VISTA led initiative, there will be five total volunteers working on these project objectives. It is a special moment in time for the Office of Environmental Quality, where projects and staff are growing to build initiatives throughout the city. Come join us in helping improve the lives of Kansas Citians! The project will be April 2025-April 2026. You can get more information by emailing Brooke Freeman at brooke.freeman@kcmo.org with the subject, Kansas City VISTA of Food System Planning and Stakeholder Engagement.
