Breakthrough Atlanta AmeriCorps Teaching Fellow

The summer enrichment program’s (AmeriCorps) teaching fellowship is for current undergraduate students. College students are eligible to serve at Breakthrough Atlanta throughout their entire undergraduate career, even if they are graduating the spring or winter before the summer session for which you are applying to teach. Unfortunately, graduate students are not eligible. An interest and/or major in middle school education is preferred. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 must be achieved prior to applying for this service opportunity. The fellowship seeks teaching fellows for its six-week enrichment summer program. The program serves students who are rising 7th-9th grade and that primarily attend metro-Atlanta public schools. Each teaching fellow will be responsible for delivering academic instruction to students attending Breakthrough Atlanta. The role of the teaching fellow includes lesson planning, student engagement, classroom management, and administration in order to effectively prepare metro-Atlanta students to be successful in the ensuing school year. This is a temporary, part-time, 9-week position hosted at The Lovett School.
