Grow Ohio Valley Summer Urban Farm AmeriCorps
 
 
 
Striving for food sovereignty, we operate four urban farm sites including an apple orchard, a rural farm incubator, as well as a host of community education programs, CSA and Farmacy (prescription produce) programs. In 2019 we opened our flagship year round farmers market grocery store, The Public Market, greatly increasing food access in downtown Wheeling, especially to healthy & local food. Next up is the Wheeling Food Hub (WFH) which is a shared-use commercial kitchen focused on expanding market opportunities for local food businesses. Reducing the barriers of entry especially for small and startup food businesses, the WFH provides facilities for local food product development (shelf-stable, value-added products). This project will begin construction later in the year.

Member Duties : AmeriCorps members serving on the urban farm team are involved with growing food on Grow Ohio Valley's urban farm sites. Summer members will be planting, maintaining, harvesting, and distributing produce.
