Engagment & Outreach VISTA- SW MN Housing Partnership

Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership (SWMHP) is a nonprofit dedicated to creating thriving communities by providing affordable housing solutions, homeownership education, and financial readiness programs. Your service will empower communities to develop workforce housing initiatives and expand access to homeownership opportunities. You'll play a vital role in implementing a five-year resource development plan to secure funding and partnerships that will provide stable, affordable housing. As a VISTA member, you will conduct targeted outreach to immigrant and BIPOC families in Nobles and Blue Earth Counties to identify barriers to homeownership and connect them with SWMHP’s homebuyer education and counseling services. You'll work closely with residents to gather input through community meetings and listening sessions, ensuring housing solutions are tailored to their unique needs. In addition, you will focus on expanding SWMHP’s community engagement efforts by building new partnerships with local employers to address workforce housing challenges. This includes convening an employer cohort to explore housing solutions for employees, facilitating regular meetings, and maintaining a documentation hub to track progress and share insights. Your efforts will also focus on securing sustainable funding by researching grant opportunities, drafting proposals, and developing fundraising strategies to support SWMHP’s housing initiatives. You'll assist in creating outreach materials and processes that target emerging households and ensure long-term engagement with immigrant communities. Through your service, you'll play a critical role in bridging homeownership disparities, fostering wealth-building opportunities for underrepresented populations, and supporting the long-term economic growth of southwest Minnesota by strengthening employer-community collaborations and expanding affordable housing access.
