Bay Area Community Resources and Contra Costa MEDS Coalition are recruiting one new AmeriCorps VISTA member to support overdose prevention activities throughout Contra Costa County. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will support opioid safety and education in schools, including coordinating outreach and resources. Additionally, the VISTA will support the creation and implementation of the coalition’s strategic communication plan including partnering with the media, developing newsletters, and coordinating social media. Finally, the member will support Naloxone access and awareness projects to meet the coalitions naloxone distribution goals and increase awareness of naloxone and fentanyl related legislation. The selected member will develop skills in research and analysis, program development, social media management, data driven decision making, policy research and advocacy and more! Selected candidates will be a part a statewide member learning community through PHI Center for Health Leadership & Impact, the largest AmeriCorps VISTA sponsor in the Western Region. This community includes support from VISTA Leads and professional development opportunities including workshops, networking events, conferences and other trainings. Member Duties : All members serve full-time, 40 hours per week for a full 12-month term. This is an in-person position, and the selected candidate must live within commuting distance of El Cerrito, California. Modest relocation assistance is available. Please note, this role is administrative and will focus on capacity building projects. The role will not include any direct service. Core responsibilities of this role include harm reduction projects, social media management, and community outreach. This VISTA member will need to be able to independently complete tasks. Additionally, the VISTA member should have interest in program coordination and project management versus direct service.
