ENGAGE AND EDUCATE COMMUNITY MEMBERS & STUDENTS IN THE BOISE FOOTHILLS ECOSYSTEM! In this position, the AmeriCorps member will develop & deliver environmental education lessons & community programs to Treasure Valley students & community members. They will also assist w/organizational details & logistics involved in delivering these programs. Additionally, they will recruit & coordinate volunteers to assist w/special events, help w/special projects, & engage in service & restoration projects. REQUIREMENTS: Must be U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident; Must possess high school diploma/equivalent, or commit to earning one prior to receiving award; Must be fluent in English; Must be able to commit to full term of service; Must successfully pass fingerprint criminal history background check. PREFERRED SKILLS: Minimum 1-yr experience teaching children; interest in/enthusiasm for working w/youth & adults; Experience w/environmental education/STEM content knowledge preferred; Communicate w/clarity & conciseness to individuals/groups; convey respect, assistance & resourcefulness in a friendly manner; Maintain flexible schedule; maintain prompt & regular attendance; Complete assignments in timely fashion; perform all essential & marginal functions w/ or without reasonable accommodation; Must be able to successfully pass City of Boise background check & City of Boise online Defensive Driver Training; Will need to be able to drive City vehicle; Will be required to complete First Aid/CPR cert course. Member Duties : In this position, the AmeriCorps member will educate multi-age audiences through lessons, community programs & presentations. They will develop new curriculum; modify/improve existing lessons, & tailor lessons/presentations to different audiences. They will develop & lead service learning & habitat restoration projects w/a variety of groups. The member will represent FLC at Community Outreach Events–examples include: expos & conferences, City of Boise events, & AmeriCorps events. This position includes assisting in the recruitment, supervision & training of volunteers, organizing & leading summer camps/special programs, & assisting in on-site programs like our after school & preschool programs. The member will be expected to perform some administrative duties related to scheduling & program delivery using tools that will include Microsoft Office, email, Powerpoint, etc. They will be expected to positively & courteously respond to phone & in person inquiries while in service.
