CONNECT Data Enhancement VISTA

The Neighborhood Developers, Inc. (TND) (http://theneighborhooddevelopers.org/) creates vibrant neighborhoods where people from all walks of life can thrive. A community development corporation serving the residents of three gateway cities that abut Boston to the north (Chelsea, Revere, and Everett), TND brings its core strengths -- building homes, engaging neighbors, and fostering economic mobility -- to community partnerships that create thriving families and strong neighborhoods. These are tight knit immigrant communities that have pride of place even though many residents have low incomes and face multiple barriers. Due in part to easy access to Boston, rents have risen significantly in recent years and many residents face the threat of displacement. To address the acute shortage of housing, TND now has 712 affordable homes in its portfolio, a remarkable 66% increase from 2020. Starting in April 2025, the 2025 – 2026 CONNECT Data Enhancement VISTA will provide one-year of full-time service that results in increased efficiency for our CONNECT and Data & Learning teams and helps them optimize their used of our Salesforce database. (TND-led CONNECT is a Financial Opportunity Center where community members get the support they need to find a better job, secure rental assistance and other public benefits, and advance household financial and wealth-building goals.) This VISTA role is an ideal opportunity for someone who has good analytical and research skills and who enjoys handling data. The VISTA year will provide excellent experience for a candidate interested in data science, real estate development or social science research; the VISTA will gain highly marketable skills and leave TND with tangible and transformative tools to better meet its mission. Do you like working with data? Do you believe everyone deserves an affordable home and a path to economic stability and wealth? If you answered yes to these questions, then this position could be for you!

Member Duties : In 2025 - 2026, the CONNECT Data Enhancement VISTA will support efforts to streamline systems that link clients with low incomes and/or limited English proficiency to multiple economic mobility services available at CONNECT, since clients who “bundle” – or access multiple services – are more likely to move out of poverty. By refining the previous VISTA’s Community Data Hub, examining CONNECT’s intake practices, and helping us optimize our use of the Salesforce database, the VISTA will increase CONNECT’s capacity to link clients facing hardships, many of whom are immigrant women with young children, to vital services and income supports that will enable them to improve their household finances and make achievable plans for a strong financial future. Our AmeriCorps VISTA alumni have described their year of service as a truly transformative experience that facilitated their growth personally and professionally.
