OPEN-MSU Community Assessment Specialist
 
 
 
The Opioid Prevention Education Network through Michigan State University (OPEN-MSU) supports a team of AmeriCorps VISTA members and VISTA Leaders as they serve with sites on projects that assist local efforts in Michigan communities to identify service gaps; improve communication within collaboratives and organizations; and, build the capacity of local efforts to create or expand opioid prevention, intervention, and treatment opportunities for communities to address the opioid abuse crisis.

Member Duties : The Community Assessment Specialist VISTA will network and build long-term relationships with Michigan communities to increase their capacity to conduct community assessments that will guide the development of their opioid settlement fund response plans. This position will work with the OPEN-MSU Community Assessment Coordinator and the Statewide Opioid Technical Assistance Center staff to create a community assessment toolkit, work plan templates, and reports. The VISTA will also work with local communities to support the development of community-specific community assessment plans, implementation, and use the findings to support long-term community efforts.
